David HiltonDavid Hilton, Trumpet

David is currently one of London’s most successful young freelance trumpet players. Aside from his current position as Principal Trumpet of Glyndebourne Touring Opera for the 2006 season, his career to date has included work with the London Philharmonic, London Symphony, BBC Symphony, Philharmonia, City of Birmingham, and BBC Concert Orchestras. Furthermore, David has enjoyed trials with the Royal Philharmonic, BBC Scottish Symphony, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic, and RTE Concert Orchestras, as well as the Birmingham Royal Ballet. Alongside his playing commitments David is also Trumpet Professor at Leeds College of Music.

David grew up in Worcestershire, where he started to learn the trumpet with local teacher, Duncan Conner. He continued his studies at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama under John Miller, and subsequently gained a place in the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.

From there, David gained a place at the Guildhall School of Music to study with Paul Beniston and Paul Cosh, and graduated in 2001 with First Class honours. During this time he also gained the positions of Principal Trumpet with the National Youth Chamber Orchestra and European Union Youth Orchestra.
