Rebecca HillRebecca Hill, French Horn

Alongside her current position as 3rd Horn of the Orchestra of Scottish Opera, Rebecca has enjoyed a prosperous freelance career which has included trials with the BBC Philharmonic, Royal Scottish National, the Royal Philharmonic Orchestras, and the Birmingham Royal Ballet, and has led her to play with, among others, the London Philharmonic Orchestra, London Symphony Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

Whilst studying at Guildhall with professors including Jeffrey Bryant and Richard Bissill, Rebecca won the Guildhall Brass prize sponsored by the honorary company of Armourers and Braziers, and gained a place in the European Union Youth Orchestra. This followed on from earlier successes which included being Shell/LSO Silver Medalist in 1999 - which culminated in a performance of Mozart’s 2nd Horn Concerto with the London Symphony Orchestra at the Barbican Hall – and winning the Junior Guildhall Lutine Prize. Additionally, Rebecca was a member of the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain, where, after joining in 1995, she became Principal Horn in her final year and was awarded the John Fletcher Memorial Prize for outstanding brass playing and contribution to the orchestra.
