The award-winning Lancier Brass Quintet has established itself as one of the leading young chamber ensembles in the country, registering achievements that no brass group has attained for over a decade. In January 2006 they made their Purcell Room debut as Park Lane Young Artists, the first brass ensemble to do so since Onyx Brass in 1995. This was followed in March by success at the Royal Over-Seas League Competition where Lancier Brass won the Ensemble Prize and Miller Trophy, again ending a drought for brass quintets that had lasted since 1993. Building on an already impressive year Lancier Brass recently became one of three Tunnell Trust Award Winners, sharing the award with two string quartets. Lancier Brass‘ performances have included concerts for the Leicester International Music Festival, the Crwth Music Festival, and at the Victoria & Albert Museum, a concert which was broadcast on Radio 3.

The individual players of Lancier Brass have all worked at the top of their profession with renowned orchestras such as the Vienna Philharmonic, London Symphony, and Philharmonia Orchestras. Furthermore, two of our members hold permanent positions with the Orchestra of Scottish Opera and all five have trialed with major London orchestras.

Future plans for Lancier Brass include a Wigmore Hall debut recital in collaboration with the Royal Over-Seas League, a debut concerto with the Young Musicians Symphony Orchestra, and the prospect of recording a commercial CD which will include a number of works commissioned by the group.
